Okuma Alışkanlığı Kapsamında 3’ü 1 Arada Enfes Karışım (Oyun-Oyuncak-Kitap) Sunan Kurumlar: Türkiye’de Oyuncak Kütüphaneleri

Abstract

A toy library is a place that brings together the concepts of game-toy-book under the same roof. These three concepts are thought to be a strategic tool that attracts the interest and attention of adults, especially children, and will create awareness of books and libraries in themselves. The history of toy libraries emerged with the aim of encouraging children and parents to use the library through games and toys and the ability to read books continuously throughout life. The history of toy libraries goes back to 2004 in Turkey, among those, Ankara Toy Library (AOK) was opened in 2012. In this study, the establishment and promotion of toy libraries in Turkey and in particular the AOK are mentioned. At the same time, the importance of encouraging children to read books and acquiring and developing reading habits through these institutions is mentioned. The AOK being prominent in this area, with its volunteer groups, aims and activities, is a colorful and animated formation, that incorporates the trilogy of games, toys and books and continues to work effectively in Turkey since 2012.. It is thought that it is necessary to increase the recognition of these and similar formations throughout Turkey and to spread the activities in a wider geographical area and this is perceived as fulfilling an important responsibility for toy libraries and AOK in Turkey.
